Meet Michele

I've dedicated my personal and professional life to helping others tell their unique career stories in a way that opens doors and creates opportunities.

Prior to starting my career in resume writing, I received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communication Studies from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Following graduation, I spent 8 years in education, where I taught English Language Arts with a focus in Secondary Education (grades 6-12). Throughout my teaching career, I enjoyed sharing my passion for reading and writing with children and young adults, inspiring them to find their own unique talents.

After working in public education, I transitioned to small business operation in 2018, where I served as the owner and operator of Michele Writes Resumes. During my time as a resume writer, I collaborated with 1000s of clients ranging from Metro Detroit to Hong Kong. Some of my favorite experiences involved clients finding their authentic selves and discovering new career paths. Some notable career transitions included: drone pilot, equine vet, and a tour guide for a haunted resort.

My areas of expertise include resume writing, content creation, LinkedIn optimization, interview prep, and application assistance. Aside from freelancing, my writing skills have been utilized by several nonprofit organizations with a focus on providing career services to under-served communities.

Outside of work, I enjoy diving into a good mystery novel, taking too many pictures of my cat, and discovering new parks around Southeast Michigan.
